The calendar consisted again of 7 race weekends, with the Red Bull Ring being replaced by the Hungaroring. Except for the final weekend, two races were held at each weekend, a total of 15 races.
Lando Norris won the 2016 NEC season ahead of Max Defourny and Dorian Boccolacci.
