2006 was the first season of the Northern European Formula Renault 2.0 Cup, created by the merger of the German and Dutch Formula Renault.
There were 16 races on 8 race weekends, the races took place in Germany (Oschersleben, Nürburgring), the Netherlands (Zandvoort, Assen), Belgium (Spa), Sweden (Anderstorp) and Austria (Salzburg).
Filipe Albuquerque won the 2006 NEC Cup ahead of Chris van der Drift and Xavier Maassen.
